When I went to college for laptop programming, I never believed it would change my life; I appreciated coding and programming and I was really good. My professor noticed my work and told myself and others about an internship for twitter for San Francisco; The paid internship was a large deal and my professor guaranteed the spot for me. My partner was surprised by the news that I wanted to uproot our life and transfer to the west coast, even though she never questioned the decision for a minute. I enjoy that about her… She is so incredibly supportive, then after moving to San Francisco, our life has been severely different… We never lived in the neighborhood before now. We lived on a dirt road in the middle of farm country. My parents still live in the same home that I grew up in. They grow corn, potatoes, and tomatoes. They have never left the state of NE. When my partner and I told them that every one of us were going to transfer to California, they called us sellouts and got irritated. I think they were exasperated to lose us, but they took the news really hard. We have lived here for more than four years and they haven’t bothered to visit even a single time. They think the place has recreational cannabis sales and that’s all they ever talk about. They suppose everyone in the neighborhood is a recreational cannabis smoker, just because it is available.
