Updating ductwork and adding zone control

My husband and I spent nearly a year touring houses for sale in the better areas of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

We were tired of wasting money on rental properties.

With three kids and another on the way, we were looking for a property with a big yard and plenty of square footage. We were able to afford the perfect house because it required a great deal of fixing up. There were issues with a leaking roof that had caused water damage to ceilings, walls and floors. We needed to replace windows, tear up the stained carpet and invest into new appliances and fixtures. The furnace, air conditioner and ductwork were in especially bad shape. We found an HVAC company in Lee’s Summit to inspect the equipment, and the technician recommended tearing out and installing all new. The ductwork not only leaked from gaps in the seams and small holes but had been designed and installed poorly. The heating and cooling units were extremely outdated. The air conditioner still used Freon refrigerant which has been discontinued due to its ozone depleting properties. The HVAC contractor suggested that we take the opportunity to upgrade to zone control. We now have independent thermostats in each room that allow for customized settings. We can make adjustments according to the specific requirements of the space or personal preferences. We don’t pay to maintain empty rooms at the ideal temperature. There’s less wear and tear on the new furnace and air conditioner, and we use less energy. The high-efficiency, zoned heating and cooling system keeps us perfectly comfortable no matter the severity of weather in Lee’s Summit.
