I’m happy that my mom likes living on her own, because I don’t think that she would really like living with me.
We never got along very well when I was a kid.
We fought all of the time because my dad was a jerk and I thought my mom should be nicer. Of course, after he died I realized how awful the man was in real life. I’m surprised my mom stayed with him as long as she did. Our relationship is much better now that I am an adult. I’ve gone to therapy and I have had time to process my childhood. I have much more admiration and respect for her than I did when I was a kid. My mom likes living on her own, but I wanted her to be close. I got her a condo in The Villages. The Villages is a city in central Florida that is specific for senior citizens. My mom got a great deal on her condo, because the previous person let the place go into foreclosure. My mom has been living in the condo in The Villages for 2 years and I just found out that she needs a new heat pump. There’s no way that my mom can afford a new heat pump, so I’ve been calling around several HVAC repair businesses in the village to find the most affordable contractor. I told my mom that we would pay for the new heat pump so I want to make sure that we get the best deal possible on the equipment and installation fees.
