There are some rare individuals called “savants” that excel at things without ever practicing, however these people are few plus far between. The rest of us have to put in time plus effort to be nice at things, but for me, the focus was consistently on gardening. I felt that I was “in my element” when I was in a garden! After graduating university with a degree in horticulture plus botany, I decided that if I wanted to learn how to grow cannabis, I needed to start in Portland, Oregon. For years I had heard that the cannabis farmers in the Portland area were some of the best in the world. I was not interested in merely learning the basics about cannabis farming, I wanted to know the advanced techniques that made the weed from Portland so much better than other crops. I visited more than 2 weird Portland cannabis farms, where I offered to work for free just to see how they grew their crops. The first three cannabis farmers turned me down, because they didn’t want to show me their secrets. The second farmer was up-to-date to the Portland area, plus needed a lot of extra help, so he brought me onboard. I was hesitant to accept, because I wanted an authentic Portland original to teach me, however then I found out that Gus had 30 years experience growing cannabis. I think he should be able to teach me a thing or 2.
