Last year, I was so busy that I forgot to schedule my yearly HVAC service. Typically, I schedule my service during the end of September or the beginning of October when the weather starts getting a bit cooler outside. This is also the time of year when most HVAC technicians in Buffalo are quite slow. This means there is no delay in service during that time of year. Because I had so much happening last September that flowed over into October, between work, traveling, as well as visiting family, I had to cancel my HVAC appointment. I like to have my service done before the Winter weather comes in to guarantee that my furnace doesn’t break down unexpectedly during the brutal cold weather. And in Buffalo, if your furnace breaks during the Winter months, be prepared to wait at least 2 or more days for an HVAC technician to fix the unit. I learned that lesson the hard way when I once waited for 3 days for an HVAC repairman to come to my house to fix my furnace in the Winter. Ever since then, I have always made sure that I schedule maintenance prior to the start of Winter to avoid that happening to me again. Thankfully, my furnace survived this past Winter without any incidents, but trust me, there were a few blistering cold nights where I said a small prayer hoping that nothing went wrong. I would rather be safe than sorry, and that’s why I choose to schedule my service before the wintertime. Scheduling my service before the Winter hits gives me more peace of mind knowing that my furnace is ready to handle whatever cold weather that awaits.
