I like the climate in Tampa because it's nice and warm

If for some reason the power went out for 24 hours or longer, this could pose serious issues with the plumbing

Both of my parents were born and raised in central Michigan. It was my mom who had family living in Florida, whereas all of my father’s extended family is in Michigan and British Columbia. When I first visited Florida, it was during a short plane trip to visit my grandmother and my great grandfather. I’ll never forget feeling the heat and humidity the second I got off the plane. We flew into the Fort Myers airport because my grandmother and great grandfather were living in Naples at the time. When my whole family finally moved to Florida, we settled into Tampa because my dad got a job at his company’s office in Tarpon Springs. I have grown accustomed to the heat and humidity that comes with living in the Tampa Bay area. I don’t miss the subzero temperatures throughout the winter where you’ll freeze to death in your sleep if you lose your power and don’t have supplemental heat sources like a storm generator or a wood stove. Since I live in a place that rarely sees freezing temperatures, I don’t have a second heat source in my Tampa home. This has worried me on nights when it actually gets down to the low 30s, because I don’t want a pipe to freeze inside my house. If for some reason the power went out for 24 hours or longer, this could pose serious issues with the plumbing. The last time it got down to 30 degrees I didn’t even run the heat in the house because it stayed in the mid 60s here. Once heat gets inside during the day, it doesn’t escape as quickly as you might think, even if the temperatures get down to 30 degrees fahrenheit at night.
