I absolutely love living by the water.
St.Petersburg is surrounded by a lot of different bodies of water.
You’ve got Tampa Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other side. You can even travel to the other side of the state in no time at all and access the Atlantic ocean. Florida is one of the only places in the whole world where you can watch the sunrise in the east and also watch it set in the west. My roommate and I live in an apartment that is only a few blocks away from Tampa bay. I love being close to the water, because fishing is one of my favorite activities. Everyday when I’m done at work, I go to the bay and spend a few hours fishing. It makes me feel very relaxed, calm, and sometimes I can get something good for dinner. Being able to catch my own dinner and cook it is another perk of living in a place with great fishing. The only time I don’t like living in St. Petersburg, Florida is during the summer, when temperatures reach nearly 100°. There is a lot of humidity because I am close to the water and that means that my roommate and I constantly have to run the air conditioner if we want to be cool. We spend about $200 every month during the summer when we have to constantly run the air conditioner. During the winter the energy bills are around $70 or $80. During those months, I tried to put some money back so I have the extra funds for the summer months when temperatures in St. Petersburg are hot and we have to run the AC all day, everyday.
