I got too high before getting on the Sandia Peak Tramway

I’m sure there is better cannabis on the west coast, but I’m perfectly happy with the weed I purchase from dispensaries in Albuquerque.

Now that New Mexico has legalized recreational weed, I don’t even have to pay fees yearly to be a medical marijuana patient just so I have the legal right to shop in a cannabis dispensary. Unfortunately, there is a 12% statewide tax on all recreational marijuana products sold at legal dispensaries. Despite this, I’m just happy that I’m not in Denver to the north where taxes on recreational marijuana have reached 26% this year with city and state taxes combined. The only other city with higher taxes on recreational cannabis is Los Angeles! Needless to say, I’m quite happy with the 12% tax in New Mexico when I think about the alternatives. On top of that, you cannot be taxed on marijuana purchases as a medical marijuana patient in New Mexico. There was a recent court ruling on the subject, so I’m happy being a resident of Albuquerque with a medical marijuana card in my pocket as well. Sometimes I visit a dispensary in North Valley or Loma Del Rey to grab a fresh jar of cannabis flower buds before going hiking for the afternoon. There are ample trails in Cibola National Forest and up the Sandia Mountains. However, don’t make the mistake that I did of getting too high on cannabis before riding the Sandia Peak Tramway to the top of Sandia Peak. My vertigo was so intense that I nearly passed out on the way to the top. My girlfriend had to shake me to snap me out of the delirium.
