For years I dreamed about moving to Glenview, IL.
Now, I know that to anyone who lives there, or has even visited Glenview, that statement is genuinely hilarious, it’s the truth, though! I was an only child raised by a single mother in a part of IL so remote that I never saw any children outside the confines of school.
I had to take a bus ride for 45 minutes just to get to the school! My mom lived on the family lands, which had stopped being farmed several years ago, then our condo was old, frail, and lacked cable tv or familiar air conditioning system, and during the hottest nights of the Summer my mom would take me to Glenview to stay with his brother. In Glenview there was ample air conditioning system, plus I could watch whatever I wanted on TV. This is how the cozy city of Glenview became idolized and glorified in my mind, and why I spent years wanting to live there. This also explains why I was so interested in learning HVAC repair for a task; Air conditioners seem so complicated I couldn’t figure them out, so if the classes at the Glenview community school could educate me, I could have a career on my hands! My Aunt Ginny was certainly kind, and let me stay in his condo near Glenview as I took my classes. In return I promised to provide his free HVAC maintenance for the rest of his life. Once I moved here to Glenview, I never moved anywhere else. I simply prefer it here.
