I had a facility built on my dad’s grape fields because I wanted to make wine in IN! It made sense to have my own building.
I needed a sizable space to house my wine tanks, carboys and all my grape stomping equipment! The con of this was because wine is so temperamental, I had a lot of costs.
I needed running water, electricity, heating and cooling. It wasn’t cheap at all getting a fine winery on the fields. I ended up spending a ton on an electrician and professional plumber, however when it came time for the HVAC, I will disclose I skimped out. I didn’t want to pay any more extra currency than I needed to for my Evansville IN facility. I tried to get a currency deal with the local HVAC dealership and they would not take it… So instead I found a handyman, obtained a HVAC component online and swung a deal with him. I chose a ductless heat pump since it provides both heating and cooling. I wanted it mounted on the back of the winery to hide it from the road. I then could control the temperature through a smart temperature control. I wouldn’t have to be at the fields to ensure the wine stayed at the right temperature. Will you get what you pay for? It would have cost the guy more currency and been harder to run the wiring to the back of my winery, then he installed the heat pump while I wasn’t there and mounted it right by the front door. It is fully functional and does the job. However, it makes my winery look love crap, then eventually I will need to hire a HVAC supplier to transfer it to where it should go.
