There was certainly a time when my goal was to see every single zoo in the country! I gave up that dream when I began to discover that tons of zoos are just not places where any particular animal should be. The Denver Zoo is absolutely a must-do if you happen to reside in or visit the Mile High City. The Denver Zoo has more than 2 types of animals, & more importantly, they give them the kinds of homes that help them thrive & do well while people are able to learn all about them! Africa is properly represented in Denver, and you can see & hear the African lion & see real African wild dogs instead of through some type of Disney lens. If you absolutely adore sizable cats, why not check out the Siberian tiger, & if you want to show your USA pride, see if you can actually find the bald eagle. You can find lovely blue frogs, black rhinos, or an EastAfrican crowned crane that is multi-colored. Also, because marijuana is legal in Denver, it might be a smart move to plan your trip to the zoo with a reasonable amount of time & energy leftover to enjoy some nice legal cannabis & an enjoyable dinner with a little bit of wine. General admission starts at 10:00 a.m., but the closing time changes depending on the day. The tiniest tots, 2 & under are free, bigger kids cost a mere $14 to get in, & adults can attend for only twenty bucks. If admission rates make you want to step back, which isn’t likely, you still have your opportunity to go to the zoo. The Denver Zoo will hold Share the Love Days throughout the year, & will use a lottery system for free admission for a few lucky folks.
