My lake house was fitted with an all brown rug, however it was super ugly and gross, the bedroom and hallway were dark brown and the dining rooms were light brown.
They were close enough that it was almost hard to tell what was what.
I hated it. I am not a fan of carpet, however since every one of us live in IL my partner said every one of us needed rugs, and every one of us needed it to keep the floors from feeling cold. The winters come soon and linger forever, but well I did some research and found a loophole. I ripped up all the old carpet and added a gray brick floor. It looks new, current and cleans like a dream. What is great is that in the upgrade process I added electric heated mats. The mats of zig zagging line of electricity that create heat. With the heat in the flooring there are no frosty spots or wasted heat going to the ceiling; Another bonus is that the system is silent and does not stir up dust. It is certainly great for our home. I unaffixd the old central gas furnace and just use heated flooring now. That works just great for our condo in Buffalo NY. I prefer that I can wake up in the morning and have toasty feet. Everything that touches the heated flooring feels hot as a result as well. That means my couch, loveseat, chairs and beds all guess heated. It is a much classier furnace than anything else on the market. I certainly care about that I have no more ugly rugs too.
