Smoke from the fireplace was backing up into our home, so I shut off the furnace and the fireplace and I called a repair company in Orland Park, Illinois. My family and I live in Orland Park. It is a great neighborhood just south of Chicago. Orland Park is one of the nicest places in the area and definitely the type of neighborhood where you want to raise children. My wife and I have three children and they all attend school in Orland Park. My wife works at a hospital in Chicago, but I have a job very close to home. In the event of an emergency, I can go back to the house in a couple of minutes. Both of the boys were at home alone on Saturday morning. My wife went to the hospital and I had some work to complete as well. The boys called me around noon, because the smoke was filling the house. I immediately thought there was a fire and I told the boys to get out of the house. I called 911 as soon as I got off the phone. The 911 operator wanted more information, but I could only give her the information that was provided to me by my children. The fire department arrived right as I was pulling into the driveway. Both of my boys were standing outside of our home. The fire crew went inside of the house to look at the furnace and the fireplace. We had a huge buildup of soot in the fireplace and it needed to be cleaned badly.
