I want access to the Heating and A/C closet

When the Heating and A/C system quits I am changing over to a ductless unit

I have a main hallway closet that I am desperate to access in my Minneapolis MN home. Right now it is filled to the brim with a lot of pointless stuff, then there is an indoor air handler that sits on a platform, but it takes the heating and cooling system to the ceiling. I can’t put anything under the platform or I ruin the airflow. The water heater sits right next to the Heating and A/C and takes up most of the room. I basically have a small space in between those two units. I can wedge a broom, vacuum, mop and dustpan in there. I have started stacking things on the water heater. I put a shelving component to the side of the Heating and A/C to hold rags and cleaning supplies. I can’t help however eye up that space though. It would be the perfect spot to keep coats, boots and junk that I don’t want to store in main areas around the house; How do I free up closet space? I am waiting for those two units to die, then when the water heater dies I am going with a tankless water heater for my Minneapolis home. It is the size of a small suitcase and can be wall mounted. When the Heating and A/C system quits I am changing over to a ductless unit. I can have numerous indoor air handlers hooked up to a single outdoor air compressor, but all the units will be in bedrooms, not the closet though. I could have zone control with this system and a free closet. That is a long time coming through, both machines at least have another 10 years on them.
