Last year, my friend Rebecca moved to Evansville Indiana, and she invited me to visit her during the holidays.
I have never been to Evansville, so I was looking forward to exploring a new city and finding fun things to do. She had an entire week of activities planned for me while I was there. And all of them were fun, but the one that I enjoyed the most was the holiday themed train. It was such a nostalgic experience and the weather was perfect for the train ride. If I go back to Evansville during the holidays, I plan on doing that again. Anyway, Rebecca lives in a brick home on the outskirts of town, and the house was renovated a few years before she purchased it. One thing I noticed though was that she had radiator heaters inside her home. They reminded me of the radiators I had in my house when I was a child. I grew up in the Northern part of the country, and we didn’t have an HVAC system in the house. Instead, we had a boiler with radiator heaters connected to it. The heater was always noisey and I remember that my room was always hot because of it. But surprisingly the radiators in Rebecca’s house were not as hot and certainly not as noisey like the ones I remember. They were more modern but they still had no way for you to efficiently control the temperature. I assume that a lot of homes in Evansville were built a long time ago before HVAC units became commonplace in the homes. Either way, the heaters were comfortable, and Evansville is now one of my favorite places to visit.
