My company does volunteer work throughout the week.
A couple of days during the week, I send out contractors to work on volunteer projects that require an HVAC technician.
There are lots of volunteer projects in Phoenix, Arizona. Last week one of my technicians went to a middle school to fix the ductless air conditioner in one of the extra rooms. The extra room is a portable box and virtually impossible to keep heated or cooled. We do our best to help the system run more efficiently. My technician went out to the school to work on that problem and the next day the middle school principal called to say that the air conditioner wasn’t working at all. This time I went down to the Phoenix address on my own. All of my guys were busy that day and I wanted to see exactly what was going on with the ductless air conditioner. When I arrived, I was exasperated by the heat. It was extremely warm and humid inside of the classroom. The kids looked even more miserable than me. I told the teacher that it would be better for the kids to go outside for a while while I worked on the ductless air conditioner. To be honest, it was cooler outside on that hot Phoenix day than it was inside of that classroom. The day before when my guy was working on the system, he crossed two of the wires in the electrical box and that’s why the ductless air conditioner wouldn’t work. Thankfully it was an easy fix. The kids got back to work before the end of the day.
